y name is Lori-Ann Valmond, and I am 16 years old female. I currently reside in Florida, with my mother (who is happily single!). I enjoy playing sports, going to the movies, hangin' out at the mall, goin' to parties (the usual things a teenage girls likes to do), singing, dancing, playing the piano, and definitely writing poetry. I have been writing since I was about 11 years old (making that about 5 years), and hope to be famous one day and perhaps write a book. Hopefully one day, I will even get up enough courage to perform my poems at an open mic (as I fear speaking in public).
Writing means a lot to me. It is a way of expressing some emotions which cannot be expressed by word of mouth. Poetry comforts me, and is ALWAYS something I can turn to (besides the Almighty of course).
It gives me something to escape to when I need a "break" from this hectic world. Through poetry, one can get the feel of who I am without actually meeting me.
"Although I am fairly "young", one might think I haven't had any experiences in life, but that's where they're wrong!"- I've experienced things teens my age can only imagine, which is both good and bad. My past, which sometimes comes to haunt me, has allowed me to become a stronger black woman; for that I am thankful.
....As for my future, I have a lot planned. I'm already preparing to go to college, and want study to become a forensic expert/ biologist (as my minor). I want to become a writer/ famous poet, and I would definitely like to get my work published- sometime soon (so if you're a publisher, or have some "connections"...hit me up!). Most of my works (poems) can be found on Mr. Africa's Poetry Board/Lounge.

I like to tell the truth as I see it. That's why literature is so important. We cannot possibly leave it to history as a discipline nor to sociology nor science nor economics to tell the story of our people. It's not a ladder we are climbing, it's literature we're producing, and there will always be someone to read it.
